The business challenge

Sanofi, a multinational pharmaceutical company, was looking to reduce the time it takes to get drugs to market by streamlining its CSR report generation process. As complex and heavily regulated reports, they needed to be 100% accurate and fully traceable for compliance purposes.

The NLG solution

Yseop worked in full collaboration with Sanofi’s Medical Writers to learn their practices and co-build a sophisticated medical writer assistant powered by NLG. The solution was a human-in-control intelligent automation system for automatic writing, which produced draft sections of CSR text for review. The system is able to mine clinical data for complex, rule-based analysis.

With this solution, Sanofi is able today to automate two major sections of the CSR covered for phase 1 and 3 clinical studies in three therapeutic areas: pharma, oncology and vaccine. This resulted in writing time being reduced by 30% on these sections, meaning employees could focus on more high-value, scientific sections of the report.

Ultimately for Sanofi this has meant saving time for the delivery of the study reports.

We wanted to be certain and very accurate around what we produce in these documents that are submitted to health authorities. We want to deliver a draft through Artificial Intelligence that is 100% reliable and need no further editing by human medical writers.
